Visual Candy: A Look Back At March 2011

April 4, 2011

Those of you who follow me on Twitter or Facebook know about the twice-weekly feature I run. It's called "Visual Candy" and is meant to provide steady stream of design inspiration to keep the gears turning.

Now it's time to take a look back at design candy from March, and catch up if you missed any of them.

March's candy is all about the details and craftsmanship. Let's delve in.

A gem from Threadless, zip it up, zip it down - it's an awesome fashion statement.

Book art is very popular at the moment. Maybe books are being viewed more as materials than those things you read and put on a shelf, what with Kindle and other digital versions being readily available. The sheer amount of work and planning that went into this piece is astonishing.

This is such a great idea, wrap up your present and circle the appropriate message. You can buy this wrapping paper here, though it's sold out at the moment.

For those of you who don't know me very well, I'm obsessed with embossing, debossing, and letterpress. The lettering for this card is the work of Doyald Young - a master in the industry.

I'm such a fan of this particular "retro" style's come back. It's structured and heavily based on small details - things that are music to my ears.

Again, details, detail, and more details with a touch of that retro style. Simply glorious!

Camille and the Musical Cherries

Magical film by Katherine Macnaughton and Aude Leroux Levesque. I've worked with Katherine and her partner Many over at BisFilms and would highly recommend them to anyone. This video certainly ought to give you a good idea of Katherine's talent.
